The rising cost and decreasing supply of homes in the US is pushing families to seek more sustainable alternatives. Enter BotBuilt, a startup founded in 2020 that is using robotic technology to lower the cost and reduce the negative impacts of homebuilding.
By automating the framing step, BotBuilt’s system allows for faster construction and cost savings, offering a solution to the skilled labor shortage. The company primarily provides services to homebuilders and operates robot-equipped factories to produce framing for their customers.
Despite being in its early stages, BotBuilt has already built nine homes and garnered $75,000 in revenue. With plans to scale up operations in 2024, the startup aims to ship trusses built by its robotics while expanding its general offerings. BotBuilt has attracted significant investment, raising $12.4 million in a seed funding round, and plans to grow its team as it continues to disrupt the homebuilding industry.
